Geocache Description:

This puzzle series was inspired by ePeterso2’s series
“Puzzle Solving 101”. Even though the traditional
method of learning is the best, there is always something to be
said about taking shortcuts. This series should be a sort of
“Cliff Notes” for those that would like to get some of
the pesky “?”s on their solved list. Follow along and
make sure you keep the final coordinates for each one of these
puzzles because they will help you to solve the final puzzle.

Quick tips to remember

The parts of the cache description page that can be modified by the
owner include:

• Cache name

• Cache owner’s name

• Related web page

• Background image URL

• Short description

• Long description

• Hints

• Log entries

Also, unless specifically stated the final cache must be within
a 2-mile limit. This would mean if the posted coordinates were
N 26 12.345 W 80 04.321, then the final cache coordinates must be
somewhere between N 26 10.345 and N 26 14.345, and between
W 80 02.321 and W 80 06.321.

With this type of cipher, the puzzle maker takes plain text (the text to be encoded) and decides how far they would like to shift the letters. So if the puzzle maker did a ROT 13 shift then “A” would equal “N”, “B” would equal “O”, “C” would equal “P” and so on. If it were a ROT 2 shift then “A” would equal “C”, and “B” would equal “D”. Once the shift is decided, then the all of the letters in the plain text are shifted the same number of spaces. Ex. (plain text = hello) Rot 13 shift (encoded text = uryyb)
