Esta Atlantis madeirense que marcou várias gerações foi construída entre 1970 e 1972 e existiu até Março de 2000.
O complexo integrava um plano de cidade turística, que incluía, um hotel, apartamentos turísticos, o clube de bridge com restaurante, sala de jogos e bar inglês, um centro comercial com cinema e bowling e uma piscina olímpica com o restaurante de janelas com vista para o interior da piscina.
A necessidade de ampliação da pista do aeroporto implicou a demolição do hotel num processo muito complexo e demorado de que ainda hoje restam os estigmas.
A implosão do edifício ditou o início do fim, hoje, o que não se encontra abandonado é propriedade de particulares, o restante complexo está abandonado à espera de melhores dias.

The complex was part of a tourist town plan, which included a hotel, tourist apartments, with a bridge club, restaurant, games room and an English bar, a shopping center with cinema and bowling and an Olympic size pool including a restaurant with windows overlooking the pool.

The implosion of the building dictated the beginning of the end, nowadays everything that is not abandoned is privately owned, the remainder complex was left hoping for better days.
