Geocache Description:

This cache is a 35mm film pot placed approximately 20cm (2ft) above ground level. It might be reachable by wheelchair cachers.

The published co-ordinates are for the WW2 pillbox located a little south of Bodium Castle.

Lots of information on pillboxes and other WW2 defences may be found here: (visit link)

The Pillbox:
The Defence of Britain Project (visit link) database includes the following text:
FW3/28A variant (brick-skinned) situated in grounds of Bodiam Castle, built on elevated ground overlooking river and railway. 7 embrasures, 1 large, 3 medium, 3 small.
Pentagonal pillbox, brick shuttered. 6pdr. embrasure in front wall covers minor road bridge over River Rother. LMG embrasures in other walls, and embrasure in attached blast wall at rear.
(Source: Field Visit 1995/08/06)
Two-chamber pillbox: N chamber to house gun to cover River Rother bridge crossing. S chamber to house [L] x machine gun positions. Access by ramp from NE corner.

UPDATE (August 2016):
The NT has changed its entry to the ground policy:
'Please note: Entry to the grounds is included in our admission prices. Tickets must be purchased to enter the castle and/or the grounds.'
So it is now necessary to pay to visit the pillbox.
Thankfully, it is not necessary to visit the pillbox because you can find the information via the link above.

Finding the cache:
To find the cache you need to:
- if you wish, visit the pillbox (see above);
- establish the number of embrasures (gun holes) in the S chamber, i.e. the one with only small machine gun embrasures;
- let this number be 'L';
- N 5[L - 4]° [L + 1] [2L + 1].[L + 5] [L - 1] [2L - 5]
- E 000° [L - 1] [L - 2].[L] [L -1] [2L]

There is an excellent view of the pillbox and castle from the location of the cache.

Please note that I had hoped to locate the cache close to the WW1 / WW2 Memorial (here: N 51° 00.087 E 000° 32.392) but unfortunately there is another cache within 528ft north of that location.
