Send Me On My Way Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

mashworth: Went to check on this one but could not find the cache - therefore with most people who are likely to want to find this having already done so... I think it is time to archive it.

Many thanks to all who tackled the puzzle / found the cache. It was about The Anarchy - a little know period of civil war in English history after King Stephen seized the throne in 1135. The book is The Pillars of the Earth. The significance of the title is that the song featured prominently in the film Matilda - with a different Matilda being Stephen's cousin - with an arguably better claim to the throne.

Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the above coordinates & any significance they may have to this puzzle is purely coincidental – I just wanted to place the unknown symbol in the middle of Shepherd & Flock! The cache though is within the usual two mile radius.

Whilst on holiday recently I read a tome that was fiction, but which featured a real, historical story in the background. One element that particularly interested me boiled down to a disagreement between cousins. It is a subject that I have since read up on & would encourage others to do the same!

For the benefit of this cache I will call the protagonists X & Y.

X, whose (first) spouse’s namesake appears in The First Folio, married in ABCD.

Y’s brother, who held a significant position of power & was familiar with Farnham, was educated where? Number of letters in place name = E.

A specific event on FG November HJKL led to the disagreement.

The tome (which has also been adapted for television) was first published in MNPQ.

Some other information which might help:
- their grandfather is associated with a very famous & very large work of art
- X shares their name with Y's spouse
- the tome has sold millions of copies

The cache can be found at:
N51 1 (F-L+A) . [(N*G)+J+M] [K] W000 4 (Q+K-E) . [{(P*D)+C}*{Q*(F+J)}]+H

UPDATE: After Kermit&Co's experience in the nettles I have moved the cache to a position beside the path & updated the coordinates accordingly. Rather than update the forumla, that remains the same but you need to subtract 0.016 from the northing, 0.061 from the westing. Note that the Geochecker has been updated to include the off-set, but will still confirm if you try the original coordinates.
