Histoire:
Eustache milicien romain sous l'empereur Trajan eut des visions et
entendit la parole du Christ. Le culte de St Eustache est très
ancien, on lit que le gibet de la seigneurie de St
Etienne-en-Coglès était déjà planté dans les landes de
Saint-Eustache au XVème et XVIème siècle. La chapelle était
autrefois frairienne. Cette chapelle fut rénovée entièrement en
1955 par l'abbé Cherbonnel, recteur de 1952 à 1966. On y voit à sa
porte une table d'autel en pierre posée sur deux colonnes
remplacant l'autel en bois, et la statue de Saint-Eustache dans une
niche au-dessus de l'autel. A coté de la chapelle se trouve des
blocs de granit dont un de 1,50m de hauteur présentant un bassin
elliptique. Ce bassin est considéré comme une pierre propice dans
le pays, et les femmes stériles s'y rendaient pour obtenir la
fécondité. La légende prétend qu'il recouvre un trésor.

a stone
altar table
resting on

columns
replacing
the
wooden altar

of Saint-Eustache
in a
niche
above
the
altar. Beside
the chapel
is of
granite blocks
with
a height
of 1.50
m with
an elliptical
basin.
The basin
is considered
a suitable
stone
in the
country,
and
barren women
went there
to obtain
fertility.
Legend has it
that it
covers
a
treasure.
