Important
Update!
In what is an incredible irony, Brandon's Earth Day
celebrations have been cancelled due to the poor weather! Please
feel free to do your own "clean up" and log the event as
"Attended", but there will be NO formal gathering at Princess Park
and there will be NO physical log book to sign.
ATTENTION! The whole purpose of a CITO event is to get
people out to help clean up an area. Many events do not have a
specific location or meeting place. In the case of our event, we
were able to use a location and associate with Brandon's Earth Day.
Since that event was cancelled, we can still have a non-specific
location for our event. If you can post a picture of yourself doing
some cleaning up in a public area within 7 days of the event, you
can log the event as "Attended" and count it as a find.
Brandon Earth Day CITO
For those who are NOT in the know, CITO stands for Cache
In, Trash Out. These events are held at
various times in various locations to reinforce the geocaching
tenet of leaving an area in better condition than when we found it.
Geocachers should always show respect for Mother Earth, and what
better way to do so than to hold a CITO event in conjunction with
the local celebration of Earth Day.
Where: Princess Park (on Princess between 8th and 9th
Streets)
When: Sunday, May 1, 2011 from 12:00 Noon to 4:00 PM
As part of Brandon's Earth Day celebrations in Princess Park, we
will be set up to register participants for this event. All you
have to do to log a find is:
- choose a public area to perform some trash removal
- when you have done your part, come and see us in Princess Park to
sign the log
- alternatively, see us first to get a trash bag and sign the paper
log with your GC name and area you plan to clean up
- go do your thing (safely), dispose of the trash (properly), then
log on line
- don't forget to take some pictures to post with your log
;-)
We will also be giving out information and hints to muggles who are
interested in geocaching. There will be a laptop on site for those
newbies who want to sign up and log the event as their first
find.
Many thanks to the City of Brandon for inviting us and the MBGA
to be part of this event.
