This cache has been archived.

Dalesman: This cache has been disabled for some time and as the owner has not repaired it I am archiving it.
Guidelines: "You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to maintain proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable amount of time - normally a few weeks - in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing."
If you wish to email me please send your email via my profile (click on my name) and quote the cache name and number.

Many thanks,
Geocache Description:

A Hunter Gatherer geoartcache, playing with a magical creature living in the Yorkshire Dales over summer 2011.

A traditional cache with a difference - sound whispers in the box, an invitation to contribute using the Hunter Gatherer iphone app, photo, text or email, plus a cache key to unlock short films and more of the story at http://www.gatherer3.com

The cache is near the River Wharfe on private land at the edge of the village of Conistone. Keep gate closed.

A Hunter Gatherer geoartcache, interacting with a magical creature living in the Yorkshire Dales. Over summer 2011 five Hunter Gatherer caches in the Yorkshire Dales will come to life at different times, when the magical creature comes to visit. If you listen, you may hear whispers of it’s song, or see glimmers of its movement. And it listens to you…

The caches play with sound, colour and text to gather responses from the hunters – you!
Hunter Gatherer explores the magic of digital media, geocaching and art – invoking the magical creature of our imagination.
As hunters find the cache and send in their responses, the creature dances into life.

The magical creature hears sounds in colours and patterns of flickering light, singing with the voice of a ringing rock and a bubbling brook.
What will you hear when you find the cache?

This is a traditional cache with a difference - sound whispers in the box, an invitation to contribute to the story by logging what you notice at this cache site.

When you find the cache you’ll be invited to respond by using a simple colour and Q&A structure. Send this to us and include the 5 digit 'cache key' you'll find in the box - so we know if you (and the magical creature) were really there!
There's lots of different ways to play: audio buttons in the cache box, QR codes, use the free specially made Hunter Gatherer iphone app*, send responses by text* or email*, or take a camera to photograph and use the crayons and 'colour grid' log books ...

You can also use the cache key to discover more about the creature and unlock a short film made using the responses gathered from you and the other hunters at (visit link)

Please respect the cache, keep it dry, and leave everything in the box for the next visitors to use. Thankyou.

There's a QR code in the cache: if you have a phone with camera and internet access, you may want to install a QR reader so that you can use this feature. (An internet search for 'your make/model of phone + QR reader' should find appropriate software, often free.)*

The cache is situated on the edge of the small village of Conistone which can be accessed by public transport. There is roadside parking in the village, beautiful views up the Wharfe valley, often groups of riders passing, and nearby connections to other footpaths including the Dales Way.

This cache is hidden on private land, with ponies kept in the field. Access to the cache is through a large metal gate from the roadside on the right immediately before the bridge, coming from Conistone. PLEASE MAKE SURE THE GATE IS KEPT SECURELY CLOSED AT ALL TIMES, and be extra careful not to leave rubbish. Thanks to the local trekking centre for permission to hide and seek this cache. If you want to stay and picnic by the river, please cross the bridge to the West side of the river, which has public access and a footpath towards Kilnsey Cragg.

You're looking for a medium-sized plastic lunch-box, hidden in an accessible area under the bridge.

Please be aware of the proximity of the river and of livestock and of traffic - keep children and animals under close control. Leave dogs and pushchairs etc outside the field. Keep the field gate closed at all times.

*Note: phone coverage and data roaming (internet connection) are required for full use on location. You are likely to get a signal near the cache, if not you can still use your mobile device on site and connect later over a wifi connection or in a different area where signal is stronger.
