Vanier Muséopark
The buildings located on the site of Richelieu Park were
constructed by the Missionaries of Africa, a religious order known
as the White Fathers. They built an important scholasticate in
1938, and in 1950 two annexes were added, now known as the Vanier
Public Library and the Richelieu Vanier Centre. The White
Fathers’ land was bought by the city of Vanier in 1977 and
the main scholasticate building was demolished. In 1985, the
building that is today the Richelieu Vanier Centre was used as City
Hall, until Vanier was merged with Ottawa in 2001.
