Geocache Description:

Another out-of-the-way conservation area.

This area is adjacent to the City of Newton Recycling Area..You will see the BIG capped land fill area which used to be called the "dump" when I was a youth, now the more PC, Capped Land Fill.

The City of Newton has reclaimed the area between the Land Fill and the Charles River and has maintained the trails as well. It is also known as "The Knob" and "Flowed Meadow".

The main trail is an old dirt road that used to go through to Forest Grove Road but is closed to motor vehicles. Now used by hikers and mountain bikes, it leads to the trail that goes through the Auburndale Cove and to the Marriott Hotel. There are other caches in the area also.

Both suggested parking areas are about equidistant to the cache, so it's your choice. I prefer the one at the end of Forest Grove Rd.

The cache is located in an area that appears to be used by "kids having fun". Be sure to re-hide well!

The trails are well used. I did not have any problem with ticks or poison plants but I recommend BUG SPRAY!

There is an FTF and a STF prize. Bring a pen just in case..Cache Happy!

CONGRATS TO Rythmicmom and "Geo-Buddy" on being FTF!
