[En] An easy micro cache in the former finnish army barracks in Hiukkavaara. The cache is accessible without any tools, please consider this when returning it. Cache contains a water resistant logbook, a pen, a sharpener and a bag of silica.

Hiukkavaara on Oulun kaupunginosa Oulujoen pohjoispuolella. Alueella sijainneen Pohjan Prikaatin entisen kasarmin rakennuksissa on nykyään pääasiassa yksityisasuntoja ja monenkirjavia pienyrityksiä, mutta sen lisäksi kasarmialueella pitää edelleen majaansa pohjoisen maanpuolustusalueen esikunta. Alueelta löytyy myös reilusti vanhaa tetsausmaastoa ja ampumarata.
Minor Threat
(visit link) puolestaan ei ole missään tekemisissä armeijan kanssa, vaan oli sen sijaan jenkkiläinen hardcore punkbändi, jota pidetään Straight Edge liikkeen (älä polta, älä juo, älä paneskele) alulle panijana. Armeijatouhujen vastakohdaksi kyseessä oli melko anti-establishment henkinen poppoo. Bändin ajatuksena ei ilmeisesti alunperin ollut luoda minkään valtakunnan uutta ideologiaa, saatikka aloittaa mitään massaliikettä, mutta tavan mukaan homma karkasi himppasen lapasesta. Myöhemmin bändin sanoittaja/laulaja/johtohahmo Ian MacKaye yritti paikkailla vahinkoa lisäämällä puheosuuden "Out of Step" kappaleeseen (katso sitaatti englanninkielisen tekstin alla). Yritykseksihän se tietysti sitten jäikin. Mahdollisesti siksi, ettei kukaan oikein ymmärtänyt, mitä MacKaye yritti vuodatuksellaan sanoa...?

Hiukkavaara is a neighbourhood of Oulu residing on the north side of the river Oulujoki. Formerly there used to be army barracks of Pohjan Prikaati (Northern Brigade) in the area, but the buildings are nowdays used mostly as private homes and as business premises for a variety of small companies. In addition to that, the finnish army is still present in the area in the form of the headquarters of the northern command. There are also lots of old combat training grounds and a shooting range.
Minor Threat
(visit link) on the other hand, doesn't have anything to do with the military, but was infact an american hardcore punk band that is considered to have started the Straight Edge movement (don't smoke, don't drink, don't fuck). In contrast with the military, Minor Threat was quite anti-establishment spirited. The band evidently had no intention of creating a new ideology of any kind, let alone starting a mass-movement, but as usual the things got "ever so slightly" out of hand. Later Ian MacKaye, the songwriter/singer/leader of the band, tried to do some damage control by adding a spoken part to one of their songs called "Out of Step" (see the quote below). That didn't really work out either. Perhaps because nobody really understood what MacKaye was trying to say...?
