Geocache Description:

CARDSFANS55 presents the 1st Annual, Craziest Cacheball Tournament!
2011 CACHE-BALL
WORLD SERIES

One day, I decided to try to come up with a different GC'ing event.
Not that campouts, meet-n-greets & flashmobs aren't awesome.
The original concept for this event was to in fact be, a 15 minute Flashmob.
But once my wheels started spinning, it grew to grander proportions.
Why only 15 minutes, why not a wiffle ball tournament?

When we saw GWS IX was in my hometown this year,
I knew
this is where I wanted to start it off!
If this event goes well, we may plan on doing it every year.
One tournament at GWS, and one in our home state of AR.

DATE/TIME:
July 3rd 2011, starting at 3PM-Dark
Hopefully that gives everyone (including us), enough
time to make it from NCTA’s Kinzua Beach Geobash

THE PLACE:
N 41° 55.628 W 079° 08.888
Werner Baseball Park in Russell PA

(Where I played little league growing up)

  RULES OF THE GAME!
RULE #1 - Everyone has fun!
RULE #2 - No one gets hurt!

WHAT TO WEAR!
This year's color... RED!
Obviously, we're St Louis Cards fans!

We want everyone to wear as much RED as possible.
I'll be in an Albert Pujols jersey, myself.

We want the group picture to be a sea of red.
Next year we might go with BLUE,
but Dodger blue, not Cubbie blue, LOL!

  CRAZY HATS!
Although a standard baseball cap is perfectly acceptible, we encourage people to dig
through their
closets, attics, garages, etc & pull out those crazy hats you bought when you
were younger & just couldn't bare
to let the wife throw out or put in the yard sale.
Beanies, Berets, Bowlers, Fedoras,
Pirate, Cowboy, Military, Hardhat, Helmets,
& Tophats, just to name a few.
The crazier the better! The funnier the better!
Don't take the hats for granted, the CRAZY HATS will play their part in the games.

  HOW TO PLAY!
Still under some developmnent, but we'll have it nailed down before the event.
Not knowing how many people to expect yet, makes it hard to breakdown the brackets.
So please
post a Will Attend. To give me an idea how many people are in your party.
Tentatively we want to have kids series & an adults series, the winners of each
will play each other
in the final showdown, of youth vs wisdom,
for the CACHE-BALL CHAMPIONSHIP!

Baseball games are normally 9 innings, 3 outs per innings.
But, each cacheball game will be 3 innings, with 9 batters per inning.
The idea is to make the games quick, so we can get as many in, as possible,
and give everyone attending plenty of opportunies to play.

GUEST REFEREES!
Each game will have a guest referee, picked at random from the crowd.
For the kid games, we need 1 adult referee & for the adult games, we need 1 kid referee!
It's not what you think though, the referee won't be responsible for calling balls & strikes.
For your ref'ing services you get 2 extra door prize tickets & you will "control the chaos"!
To make this game unique, we devised some fun ways to strive for "controlled chaos".

Here are 3 examples:

A:
"SLOW MOTION" - Refs can yell this out at any point in the game.
If a ball goes in play, the player with the ball & the base runner,
have to start running & throwing in slow motion "Baywatch-style".
Or if it's called on the pitcher, the throw to the plate goes Slo-Mo.

B: "SWITCH HIT" - During anyone's at bat, the ref can shout "SWITCH"
and the batter has to flip front right-handed to left-handed or vice versa.

C: "FLIP THE BASES" - Everyone knows in baseball, softball, etc, you run
counter-clockwise, from 1st to 2nd to 3rd. But, if the ref yells
"FLIP THE BASES" now 1st becomes 3rd & 3rd becomes 1st.
And the base-running switches to clockwise.
It can change singles in triples & triples into singles late in the game.

  DOOR PRIZES!
Everyone gets 1 ticket for showing up.
Everyone who participates in a game gets 1 extra ticket for playing.
The winning team of the tournament, gets bragging rights, and 2 extra tickets per person.
There's will be a quick Home Run Derby at the end for chances to win extra tickets.
Referrees also have to the ability to issue bonus tickets for "conspicuous acts of hilarity".
Everyone is welcome/encouraged to donate door prizes.
Let me know in advance & I'll give you a shout out on the cache page.

  THE FANS!
We realize everyone in attendance may not be able to play,
although we'll try to make sure everyone who wants to, does.
But if you're coming just to cheer on your friends & family,
come out & join the fun! There is a playground for the kids as well.

Things we could use your help with:
We're not planning a full blown meal at this time,
but we will have drinks available at the pavillion.
Gatorade & water in large coolers & canned beverages.

Anyone willing to bring extra bottled water, canned beverages,
or snacks (cookies, chips, etc) will be appreciated.
We will have plenty of ice.

Last but certainly not least!
A HUGE thank you to Mike English & the Russell Vol Fire Dept
for allowing us to host this event in their facility for free.
