Geocache Description:

The cemetery is located on Centennial Road in Gilsum. The cache is a small lock-n-lock plastic box. The cache is accessed from the outer side of the cemetery's perimeter stone wall. Please do not move any stones in the walls, and please do not climb over the stone walls to access the cache. There are pull-off areas for parking along the road bordering the cemetery.

Joseph Smith founded the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints. His mother (Lucy Mack) was born in a nearby home (private). Lucy Mack is considered the spirtual mother of the Latter Days Saints. Joseph Smith's maternal grandfather (Solomon Mack, the 1st) died on 08/23/1820 and is buried in this cemetery, along with Joseph Smith's maternal uncle (Solomon Mack Jr.) who died in Gilsum on 10/12/1851. This cemetery is also known as the Bond Cemetery. There is an interesting stone winter-storage vault located not far from where the cache is hidden. Congratulations to rjb43nh for the FTF!! It is exciting to have such an experienced cacher find our cache!
