Geocache Description:

A short bushwhack in Greenleaf Park makes an easy grab and go find.

This cache, located in Greenleaf Park, named after O.H. Greenleaf, one of the great philanthropists of the late 19th Century, who helped preserve parkland and open space in the city. Together with Everett Barney, Greenleaf provided most of the funding to purchase land for what is now Forest Park in Springfield. In 1884, Greenleaf offered 65 acres of land that comprised the first parcel of the park. Shortly after, approximately 178 acres were donated by wealthy businessman Everett Hosmer Barney.

This short bushwhack provides a reminder of the natural beauty that Greenleaf and Barney worked so hard to preserve for future Springfield residents. Cache contains a log, a US coin, a carabiner, a mini-light and some other small trinkets.
