Now I’ve been geocaching for about four years now (at date of writing) and it seems to me that the sport is growing. Mind you, I don’t meet many fellow geocachers when out caching. Well, a few now and again. Silly really – when you can have such great fun doing it. I remember once in Lyme Regis bumping into a whole family of six or seven cachers. Luckily for me, they had solved most of the puzzle (by reading the text on a bench) before I arrived and helped them finish it. In London once, I met a couple of cachers who were well into their ‘longest streak’, inspiring me to fill the gaps in my caching diary.

Well, you and I both know that while it might be good to introduce a friend to caching, we don’t want everybody to know about it, do we? Or do we – why not? Something tells me that geocaching will continue to expand exponentially. In fact, the ‘six degrees of separation’ concept would suggest total world domination within a year. In reality though, as the sport gets more media coverage, lots more people should discover the fun. If you enjoy caching, why not tell some of your friends. They might not be hooked by high-tech ‘hide and seek’, but some might succumb and begin their own caching journey. Maybe they could help you with my bizarre puzzle and then come with you and experience caching for themselves!
