Cherry Hill Plateau

There are a few caches that commemorate the history and origin of the name Duvall ("Duvall 1913"). The town's namesake, James Duvall sold the land upon which Duvall now stands to the Cherry Valley Townsite Company, after having lived in the The first post office in the Valley was located on the east riverbank near the county line. This office was later moved to a home on the present Zylstra farm, because of flooding at its former site. A box fastened to a wall in the kitchen served as the official post office, and the owner of the home, Mr. Lucius Day, was appointed the postmaster. When asked by the postal department officials what name was to be applied to the location, Mr. Day looked out of the window at his two blooming cherry trees and replied, "Let's call it Cherry Valley."

I noticed "Cherry Hill" on a topo and, after looking into it, decided to go explore. Glad I did and hope you'll find the happy place I did up here.
