                Forn de Clinker

CATALÀ:

Els dos germans s’han tingut que modernitzar, poca gent utiliza ja  la calç com a material lligant i el seu ús ha caigut a testimonial. És per aquest motiu que s’han reciclat i han aprés a fabricar ciment, segurament un del productes estrella del darrer segle.

Joseph Aspdin i James Parker van patentar el 1824 el Portland Cement, denominat així pel seu color gris verdós fosc similar a la pedra de Portland, Anglaterra.

El component principal del ciment és el clinker, substància que s’obté com a resultat de la calcinació en un forn  de dos materials.

Pregunta nº1:   La calcinació, a 1400ºC, de quins dos elements forma el clinker?

Es tracta del conglomerant més important que podem trobar a l’actualitat. Els ciments s’utilitzen principalment per la fabricació formigó i morter.

Pregunta nº2:   Quina és la diferencia fonamental (composició o barreja) entre un morter i el formigó?

Des del punt de vista químic es tracta d’una barreja de silicats i aluminats de calci. Donat que la composició química dels ciments és complexa, s’utilitzen terminologies especifiques per definir la composició.

Sens dubte el més conegut i utilitzat és el ciment portland, però existeix un altre tipus de ciment que es conegut per la seva rapidesa en fraguar o endurir-se, és el ciment ràpid o aluminós. Com en seu nom indica conté alumini.

Pregunta nº3:   Quina roca sedimentaria, i principal mena de l’alumini, es barreja amb el clinker per obtenir el ciment aluminós?

S’anomena aluminosis a una patologia del formigó, on el formigó utilitzat perd les seves propietats fent-se menys resistent i més porós, posant així en perill l’estabilitat del edifici. Aquesta patologia es causada pel ciment aluminós i el desencadenant de la patologia es la humitat.

Question 1: Calcination of which two elements form the clinker?

It is the largest cluster to be found now. The cements are mainly used for making concrete and mortar.

Question Nº 2: What is the fundamental difference (or mixture composition) between mortar and concrete?

From a chemical point of view is a mixture of calcium silicates and aluminates. Since the chemical composition of cements is complex, specific terminology used to define the composition.


Undoubtedly the best known and used is portland cement, but there is another type of cement that is known for its speed in forging or hardening itself, it is quick or aluminous cement. As its name suggests contains aluminum.

Question Nº 3: What sedimentary rock, and main types of aluminum, is mixed with the clinker to obtain aluminous cement?

Aluminosis called a disease of the concrete where the concrete used lose their properties becoming less resistant and more porous, thus putting at risk the stability of the building. This condition is caused by aluminous cement and humidity.
