My first cache was Owl’s Head GCJVEZ by rjb43nh which was a 16+ mile hike into the Pemigewasset Wilderness and the most difficult cache in New Hampshire at the time. I did this without a GPSr! Unfortunately, it had to be archived because Owl’s Head is in an officially designated wilderness area.
This cache is placed in the spirit of the Owl’s Head cache. It is placed 217’ from the wilderness boundary sign on the Bondcliff Trail just south of the side trail to Guyot Shelter. On your way to the cache you will have multiple views of Owl’s Head to the west. There are many ways to reach this location, but the shortest way is 8.5 miles one way over the Twins. Many people backpack to this location, but some hardy souls do a day hike in and out from Rte. 112 or a walk through from Rte. 302 to Rte. 112. 7-22-2019 - container had to be moved because of the creation of an illegal campsite. The container is a pill bottle attached to the trunk of a 4" diameter evergreen about 4' off the ground. The evergreen is in a small stick forest about 15' off the trail on the EAST side of the trail behind a very old tree rootball covered in moss. Look for a rectangular flat rock on the east side of the trail that is about 4" high and 18" X 24" for the spot to enter the woods. Bring the photo with you. If you go up there I want you to find it!!! BTW, I was able to get a cell signal at the cache site.
