Geocache Description:

I love the dollar store! Going to the dollar store when I was young was a treat (because mom usually let me get something).

There was one day that I remember so vividly. We were eating pizza at Pizza Hut one evening after an eventful day at the water park. I was a nosy little 4 year old that decided it would be wise to check out what was underneath the table. I sneaked a peek and holy bananas! Money! Even at 4 years old, I knew what money looked like, gosh darn it! I proudly came up from underneath the table holding my prize proudly and exclaiming, "LOOK WHAT I FOUND!"

My dad quickly took it from my tight grasp and I was so sad that he took my money, so he gave me a five dollar bill for it. "But DAD!", I exclaimed, "It was ONE-ZERO-ZERO!"

Yep, that's right. I had found a hundred dollar bill underneath the table at pizza hut when I was four years old. I didn't know what one hundred dollars was, or how much it really was, but I knew that what my dad had given me was NOT "one-zero-zero". To quickly shut me up and to try not to draw attention in the restaurant, my mother said to me, "Molly, that five is better. I will take you to the store tomorrow and you can buy FIVE things."

So this is where the dollar store comes in. As she had promised, my mother took me to the dollar store the next day, and like she had said, I was able to buy five (count 'em, FIVE!) things.

I bought toys, I'm sure, but the one thing I distinctly remember purchasing that day was a statue of a "pretty lady". I happily held up the statue to my mom and said, "I want to get this statue of the pretty lady!" My mother tried to deter me from this purchase, but I was determined that the pretty lady would be mine.

...Come to find out, that "pretty lady" was a statue of the Virgin Mary. Hey! How was a four year old kid with no religious upbringing supposed to know that? Haha! So for years I had this statue of a pretty lady displayed proudly on a shelf not knowing what the heck it actually was!
