Another all season hike. It features an old lighthouse (that now serves as a minor navigation marker) and the ruins of the keepers quarters nearby.

The lighthouse sits near Warrior Rock. It's name given by Lt. William Broughton of the Hudson's Bay Company (and former British POW in the Revolutionary War) in October of 1792 to honor the Chinook Nation war party he met and traded with there. Now the area is part of the Sauvie Island National Wildlife Refuge. It's a lightly visited place that promises to see much future activity after the Lewis and Clark Bicentennial Project completes a proposed visitors trail and water taxi landing there.
The hike is 3 miles one way(3-1/2 if you continue to the tip of the island) and you must observe all the usual caveats and prohibitions found in a wildlife refuge. Also purchase a parking pass to leave in your car. They can be acquired at the Linnton 7-11 store or at Sam's Crackerbarrel, just after crossing the bridge. Daily passes are $3.00 and yearly $11.00. Access is year round except for unusually high river levels. The cache(ammo box) is within a few feet of a trail and will be easily spotted if not covered up well. Please try to be discreet!
