Geocache Description:

This cache is a tribute to orienteering, the grand daddy of all geocaching. By completing this puzzle geocachers of modern age will have the chance to test their orienteering skills.

To find all points of this cache you will need to do a bit of both geocaching and orienteering, the traditional way of navigation, that is.

The goal of orienteering is to complete a track of several control points and to get to the Finish first. At the Start competitors get a topographical map and a control card. The map shows the Start (triangle), the Finish (double circles) and the numbered control points (circles), connected by straight lines. Control points must be visited in the order shown by the map. Competitors can also use a compass to navigate the track, but no GPS is allowed on most events. At each control point competitors have to punch their control card. Generally this is done by a needle punching device tethered to the control point or more recently by an electronic control unit. Approaching the cache:
Take route 55 from Szeged or Baja and make a turn towards Ásotthalom. On entering the village turn right at the church, and follow the road to the recommended parking spot: N 46° 12.365' E 19° 45.907' 117 m [GCTAJF+parking]

This multi cache consists of 2 traditional caches.

The first cache is at the Start of the track:
N46°12.312' E19°45.856' 117m [GCTAJF-1]. You will find an orienteering map inside the cache, if you did not bring your own.

The second cache is at the Finish:
N46°12.852' E19° 46.021' 117m [GCTAJF-2] with the logbook and the trade goodies.

There are two orienteering tracks marked on the map. You may choose to complete any of them for the fun of it. The longer and more difficult route marked by control points 1 through 11 is for experts. The shorter is recommended for beginners and first time orienteers, marked by control points 21 through 26. Control points in the field are red-white plastic cups (as in the picture).

If you borrowed the map at the Start, with the next person in mind, please bring it back to the Start when finished. If you prefer to print and bring your own, you may download a copy from here: (visit link)

It is possible to log your finding on the Hungarian GC site as well. Don't forget to record the pieces of the password at the Start and the Finish.

Food, drinking water and fuel are available in the village (Ásotthalom).
