Armi Kuusela syntyi Muhoksella ja voitti Suomen Neito -kilpailun 24. toukokuuta 1952 sekä kaikkien aikojen ensimmäisen Miss Universum -kilpailun 29. kesäkuuta 1952, saaden universumin kauneimman naisen tittelin sen ollessa ensimmäistä kertaa tarjolla.

Samana vuonna Armin voitettua Miss Universum -kilpailun kuvattiin Suomessa elokuva Maailman kaunein tyttö, jossa hän esiintyi yhdessä Tauno Palon kanssa. Elokuvan käsikirjoitti Mika Waltari ja ohjasi Veikko Itkonen. Myös samoina vuosina tehty laulu ja elokuva Muhoksen Mimmistä yhdistetään usein Armi Kuuselaan, vaikka ne eivät hänestä kerrokaan. Muhoksen keskustassa oleva Muhoksen Mimmi -patsas seppelöidään joka vuosi Vapunpäivänä.

Armi Kuusela, a Finnish beauty queen, was born in Muhos. She won the Finnish national beauty contest Suomen Neito (Maid of Finland) 24 May 1952 and participated and won the first-ever Miss Universe pageant 29 June 1952, becoming the first Miss Universe in history.

Immediately after her winning there was a Finnish movie made of her, called The world's most beautiful girl. In that movie she acted together with Tauno Palo. The movie was directed by Veikko Itkonen, with screenplay written by Mika Waltari. During those years also a song and a movie called Mimmi of Muhos were made. Those are often connected to Armi Kuusela even though they do not actually tell about her. Every year on the First of May the statue of Mimmi of Muhos located in the centre of Muhos is being garlanded with a wreath of flowers.
