Geocache Description:

Rail ride # 4: Dotty Bridge

This is an impressive structure, well designed and one of our favourite crossings because it is a key access point to the Gardiners Creek Rail trail. Steel sheets clad each side of the bridge with holes punched through for viewing, hence the Cache name.

It is at this point that three trails into the city merge from different directions and the parks you can visit from this point on are first class! Places to rest and enjoy simple weekend pleasures with the family.

This bridge was really missed when the freeway was being extended with large detours involved. We now have a similar problem with access to the “Anniversary trail” which has just been lost when a small bridge was destroyed in recent flooding. Even with the detour it is a great ride to take the Anniversary Trail all the way to Studley Park and then loop back to the Gardiners creek trail via the Main Yarra Trail and back to this point. Allow lots of time.

The cache is a small micro and open to view as we have been impressed with those who place them in plain sight.

Congratulations to SirJ-Oz for his maiden FTF - Woohoo!
