This cache is located in Sleepy Hollow State Park as part of the Haunted Hollow Event American Heroes. A passport sticker or a entrance fee is required to enter the park. The cache is a sandwich size clear lock and lock container, located along one of the many trails in the Sleepy Hollow State Park. There is no bushwhacking required and its less than 70 feet off the trail.
This cache has been placed to honor all of the American Heroes that have served or are currently serving in the United States Coast Guard.
The United States Coast Guard was started by Alexander Hamilton under the Department of the Treasury on August 4,1790.
The U.S. Coast Guard, now a division of the Department of Homeland Security, is one of the five armed services. Unlike the Army, Navy, Air Force or Marine Corps, the Coast Guard's responsibilities go beyond military and defense. Its missions include maritime safety and security, environmental protection of our waterways numerous duties including search and rescue of boaters that are lost at sea and facilitation of maritime commerce. They serve the people and keep them safe.
Bases for the Coast Guard are located in Boston, Charleston, Fort Macon, Mayport, Miami Beach, San Juan, South Portland, Southwest Harbor, Galveston, Mobile, New Orleans, Detroit, Milwaukee, St Louis. Sault Ste Marie, Honolulu, Ketchikan, and San Francisco.
