O Porto de Aveiro é um porto situado no distrito de Aveiro,
inserido numa laguna que constitui a Ria de Aveiro. É uma zona
classificada como zona de protecção especial (ZPE), que assume uma
especial importância para variadíssimas espécies, no que respeita à
conservação de zonas húmidas. Este porto tem por objectivo a
movimentação de vários tipos de mercadorias e dispõe de vários
terminais, onde se faz a movimentação de granéis sólidos ou
líquidos, carga geral, entre outras mercadorias. Possui ainda
terminais destinados à movimentação de pescado. Este porto fornece
a região Centro e Norte de Portugal, e a zona centro de
Espanha.
As principais acessibilidades terrestres ao porto de Aveiro são, a
auto-estrada A1, que faz a ligação entre o Porto e Lisboa, a A17
(entre Aveiro e a Marinha Grande/A8), e a A25, a qual faz ligação
de Aveiro à fronteira de Vilar Formoso, passando pelo interior
centro de Portugal, e por conseguinte, permitindo uma ligação ao
centro de Espanha. Existe também acesso ferroviário, desde que foi
concluído o ramal do porto de Aveiro em 2009, que une a Plataforma
Multimodal de Cacia, na Linha do Norte, ao Porto de Aveiro, numa
extensão total de aproximadamente 9 km.

The Port of Aveiro is located in the district of Aveiro and
inserted in the lagoon, Ria de Aveiro. It is a zone classified as a
Special Protection Area (SPA), which is of particular importance
for many species, regarding the conservation of wetlands. This port
is aimed at handling various types of goods and has several
terminals, which handle solid or liquid bulk, general cargo, among
other goods. It also has terminals for the transport of fish. This
port provides the Central and Northern Portugal, and the central
region of Spain.
The main land access to the port of Aveiro is the A1 motorway,
which connects Porto and Lisbon, the A17 (between Aveiro and
Marinha Grande/A8), and the A25, which makes Aveiro connection to
the Vilar Formoso border, passing through the interior center of
Portugal, and therefore allowing a connection to central Spain.
There is also rail access, since the railway extension to the port
of Aveiro was completed in 2009, connecting the multimodal platform
of Cacia, on the Northern Line, and the Port of Aveiro, with a
total length of approximately 9 km.
