An easy short or long hike, mostly rail trail, leads to this secluded picnic spot on the Cedar River. The shortest walk, 2.5mi round trip, is obtained by parking at Landsburg 47/22.510 - 121/58.278. There are many other places to access the rail trail to the west. I usually Mtn Bike from Maple Valley starting opposite the highway from the NAPA Autoparts store, the first business as you enter Maple Valley from the west.
This cache is located near a couple of lovely secluded beaches next to the Cedar River. It is a green ammo container. Bring a picnic lunch. If it's hot, you can wade in the large pool at the second beach. There also is lots of good exploring in the vicinity. Slightly further down river, you can cross the old railroad bridge for more exploring adventures. Today, 9/24/02, I counted over 50 salmon from the bridge. The rail trail goes all the way to Lake Washington in Renton, past "Prickly Pond", "North Cedar River Trail" and "4oh5 Troll Cache to name a few. In the winter, the trails off the rail trail to the cache can be very muddy. The coordinates lead you the first of two nice beaches. It is where the trail leads to the river. The second, sandy, beach is 100 or so feet down river through the thickets. When I last visited the picnic table was at the second beach. To find the cache, think about what river you standing next to.
