O Elevador do Mercado localiza-se em Coimbra, Portugal, e é explorado pelos SMTUC, um serviço municipal. Liga o Mercado Municipal D. Pedro V à Rua Padre António Vieira, num percurso misto composto por um elevador vertical nos primeiros 20 m e por um elevador em plano inclinado até ao topo, aos 51 m, havendo apenas uma cabina montada em cada segmento. Foi construído no início da década de 2000, tendo sido inaugurado em 2001.
Chegando ao cimo do elevador é possível ter uma vista privilegiada da baixa de Coimbra, e caminhando um pouco estamos na Universidade e com acesso a alguns dos monumentos mais significativos da cidade de Coimbra. |
The market elevator is located in Coimbra, Portugal, and it’s managed by the SMTUC, a municipal service. It makes a route between the D. Pedro V Market and the Rua Padre António Vieira. It’s a mixed route, that consists in a vertical lift in the first 20 meters and the last 51 meters are in inclined plane, up to the top. It was built in the beginning of the year 2000 and opened to the public in 2001.
From the top you can appreciate a wonderful view of the center of Coimbra, and in a little walk you are in the University, where you can visit some of the most important monuments in Coimbra.
