Geocache Description:

A short hike in the woods to the historic Indian Rock. You are looking for a small lock and lock (Note that there is a nearby letterbox).
Please make sure to rehide it well!

This cache is located in Franklin conservation land near the historically significant Indian Rock. During King Philip's War in 1676, a Wrentham resident looking for a lost horse came across an encampment of forty two Native American warriors at the spot. He returned to Wrentham and alerted the town, bringing back a dozen men. The men took the Native Americans by surprise, and many jumped off this rock. Injured by the fall, they were quickly overtaken by the Wrentham men. Only two Native Americans survived the attack.

You can check out the town recreation brochure for more info: (visit link)

The trailhead is at the end of the cul-de-sac on King Philip Road (take Jordan Road to Indian Lane). A rock and Franklin conservation circle mark the start of the trail. To get to Indian Rock and the cache site, turn right and stay on the trail. There are other trails here too that can be explored. You can see the brochure for more info on them.

From the cache site, if you bushwack a bit to the second hill that you see, there is some sort of fort up there (see photo).

***There is an unactivated travel tag for FTF***
