This 40 Hectare bush reserve was opened up for public access in 1993 and is administered by the David Johnstone Pukemokemoke Bush Trust. It is native bush with good examples of totara, matai kanuka, kahikatea and kauri.
I suggest heading to the summit via the Kauri grove then returning to your vehicle down the NE track via the log hauler site (equal distance each way). There is a nice picnic area with gazebo and a water supply at the log hauler site. The track is well formed and drained but can be a little slippery in places when wet.
Cache is an ammo box. Please cover when replacing.
