un'ora e mezza di cammino.
Pian d'Albero, 20 Giugno 1944.
attaccarono.
mentre altri riuscirono a fuggire.
S.Andrea a Campiglia, dove avvenne l'impiccagione (43°36.420'N
011°25,699'E ).
furono volontari gli stessi sopravvissuti all'eccidio nazista e
esattamente come trovata e ben nascosta dagli sguardi indiscreti.
Grazie.

Pian d'Albero, June 20th, 1944.
The farmhouse of Pian d'Albero, located on the Chianti's hills, at
that time was inhabited by a family of farmers: The Cavicchi. At
that time, farming families were patriarchal and count to 3 or 4
different generations. The Cavicchi's family decided to help the
Resistance that on these mountains had taken refuge, livelihoods
and the ability to organize almost undisturbed their actions for
the liberation of Florence and of the surrounding countries. The
house served as a support base for the "Sinigaglia" brigade and as
a center for recruiting new partisans: many people from the south
of Florence and Bagno a Ripoli were aggregated, in the spirit of
freedom, a moral duty, or perhaps simply driven by the echo of the
acts from the brigade and echoed in the countries. The German
forces had understood they had to eradicate the Resistance and were
aware of the existence of a recruitment center in the area.
Because of a careless act of a components of the brigade, a tip of
a "spy" or for other reasons, the German soldiers came to knowledge
of the farmhouse and its function. The night they occupied all the
woods around the house and at the sunrise they attacked the house.
Then, here, taken place one of the most tragic events of the whole
bloody war of liberation: 20 partisans killed during the battle of
the siege but 21 were captured and many others escaped. Among the
fallen are Norberto Cavicchi, son of Giuseppe and father of Aronne
(only 12 years old). Two of the captured later managed to escape
but the other 19 the fate was sealed. They were taken away and
hanged shortly to of mulberry trees along the road and left to
dangle there as a warning to the inhabitants of those places ...
between them was also the smallest Aronne.
The name of Aronne became the mascot of the entire brigade,
represented by a flag which was the first to cross the Arno river
and waving in the city center of Florence freed.
The town of Florence erected in memory of these fallen a monument
in the square Elia della Costa while others memorial stones were
erected near the house and S.Andrea in Campiglia, where it happened
the hanging (43°36.420'N 011°25,699'E).
In 1983, "Aronne" has also become a film was shot with makeshift
equipment and aid the people of volunteers place for volunteers
protagonists were the same Nazi massacre survivors and citizens of
the area. The film is available from the municipal library of Bagno
a Ripoli and, of course, also in Florence.
The stories of the partisan life in Pian d'Albero and of the tragic
events of that June 20 it's been reported to me by relatives,
friends and acquaintances. As a resident of the town of Bagno a
Ripoli, I also remember I've been watch the movie in those years
('83-'84) was shown in cultural circles and schools of all the
south-east area of Florence.
So I placed this cache for several reasons: as a moral thank to
those who have sacrificed their life and to the survivors, to bring
to the attention of many of the tragic history and to understand
how it can be "barbarian" the human soul. The greatest significance
of all this I think can be summed up by a written placed there
around on a memorial plaque: "Peace, Peace, Peace" ... now and
forever.
The cache is located near the farmhouse and is a tupperware type
container of small and medium-sized; replace the cache exactly as
found, well hidden from prying eyes.
As already mentioned this cache, apart from being hidden in
scenically attractive place, wants to be a invitation to consider:
then let above your own personal thoughts. Thank you.
