Geocache Description:

It is all about the dogs. The cache is more than two miles from the posted coordinates, in Loudon . You will need to solve the puzzle to determine the exact coordinates. I wasn’t sure at first if I could do a dog cache for MAMD because I don’t have a purebred pup like most of the dog caches are showcasing. I asked Kim about it and she assured me it would be just fine.

My dog Angus has been caching with me several times but is absolutely no help in finding caches. He is now fully grown at 80 pounds and has started to be calmer when we take him for walks. He doesn’t get too distracted by squirrels and other small animals that he sees in the woods anymore but we always keep him on a lead, just in case.

I wasn’t sure how to make a cache for him because he is a mixed breed. The best way to describe him is to try to pick out the pieces of other dogs that look like him. If you could put all these pieces together you would get a pretty close approximation of My Dog Angus.

For the first half of My Dog Angus, his nose is jet black like a Dalmatian or a Collie and his head shape is definitely that of a Pit Bull. He has the short coat and colored black & white splotches of a Smooth Fox Terrier.

For the rest of My Dog Angus, he has the thinner rear end shape of a Greyhound and the thin but solid whip-like tail of the American English Coonhound. When he’s happy and wagging his tail and it’s hitting you, you know why I call it whip-like! He has the thick powerful neck of the Terriers and finally, he drools like a Saint Bernard! I think he does this on purpose but after he gets a drink he loves to come up and wipe his jowls against you to soak you as well.

Although he hasn’t graduated yet he is enrolled in the canine good citizenship classes and is an eager student, especially when there are treats to reward him. With his short hair you can see his skin is a light pinkish color. He appears to have allergies and his skin turns pinker than normal in the summertime after he’s been outside and exposed to whatever it is that affects him. Occasionally we give him an OTC allergy pill. He is very easy going and doesn’t bark much except when he expects me to take him out back for his walks. Our 5 cats play with him and they all get along well together, even at meal time.

To get the final cache coordinates take the answers you got for the puzzle (they are in the format DD MM.MMM / DD MM.MMM for N/W) and subtract 17.976 from north and 25.904 from west. Your final answer can be checked on the geochecker.

There is roadside parking but this (and access to the cache) may be a bigger problem in the winter if there is much snow. Use common sense and don't park in the road. The cache container is a camo-ed 3"x5" LnL. There is one of my coveted PowerTank retractable space-type pens as a First To Find prize.
