This cache is part of the “Snoopy” series of puzzle and letterbox hybrid caches sponsored by “Meandmydogs”. The cache final is located in Bedford, NH. You can park at the following coordinates in Bedford, NH:

Parking area at Legacy Park.

You must solve the puzzle in order to find this cache.

I chose the “Greyhound” breed as part of this dog series. Since 1990, we have adopted 4 retired racing greyhounds. This puzzle is honor of our greyhound that we have named “Spirit”.

Spirit was born June 8, 2001 and his official racing name was “Onaim Spirit” and he spent his entire racing career at one race track, Wonderland Park in Massachusetts. This is unusual as our other greyhound (Gracie) was born in Iowa and raced in Iowa, West Virginia, Alabama and Florida..

Spirits racing career started when he was 2 years old and he raced for almost 2 years. We adopted him in the fall of 2005. After bringing him home, we visited a website that provides the racing records for retired racing greyhounds. For most of his career, he ran one race per week. There is an unexplained gap in his racing records whereby he didn’t race for 87 days. Injury? Resting? We’ll never know what happened but we do know that his racing career ended shortly after his return on March 20, 2005.

Just like all of the greyhounds we have adopted, he easily made the conversion from being a track dog to a loving pet. We have never had a problem with any of our greyhounds. Like most big dogs, greyhounds tend to have short life spans. We are fortunate that Spirit has lived past the age of 10 years. Our previous two deceased greyhounds died at young ages and we suspect that they were given steroids at the racetrack and that shortened their lives due to tumors, etc.

There is not enough information provided within the cache description to solve the puzzle. In order to solve this puzzle, you will need to access Spirits racing records. They are posted in the gallery attached to this cache page.

There are databases on the internet that provide the racing details for current and retired greyhound racing dogs. Shown below are the details regarding Spirits identification that is necessary to access such records:

Racing name: Onaim Spirit

Ear marks: 61C-95984

Right ear: 61C

Left: 95984

Note: at birth all racing greyhounds are tattooed with registration numbers inside of the ear flaps.

How to solve the puzzle:

Review Spirits racing records that are posted in the gallery and use the data to answer the following questions and solve for the following coordinates:

N42 AB.CDE W071 FG.HIJ

AB: On December 14, 2004 Onaim Spirit won this race and it was his final winning race. In whole seconds, what was his winning time? Do not round up or down. Just use the whole seconds. Add 26 to this number.

CDE: July 12, 2003 was his first race. In meters, what was the distance run? Add 47 to that number

FG: Review Spirit’s racing records and identify his fastest race as measured in Miles per hour.

Subtract 6 from this number

HIJ: How many races are posted to Spirits records during his 648 day racing career? Add 95 to that number

Other information about greyhounds not related to solving the puzzle but fun to know:

We have adopted four retired racing greyhounds from the Greyhound Placement Service of New Hampshire. Their website is shown below and they are a non profit organization. By the way, this website does not have anything to do with solving the puzzle. It is provided if you are interested in adopting a retired racing greyhound.
