The Cache is a "Brown British Ammo Box" with original prizes of a key ring, a neat "Coca Cola" Pen, A Port Everglades Harbor Pilot Cap, Handwarmers, golf Balls, 3 candles, and a "Trigger Fish" statuette! I set the Cache after Snowmobiling to this Hi-Point where there are fantastic Views to the North, Northeast, East, and Southeast: Canada, Brousseau Mountain Cliffs, Little Averill Lake!
Best way now (August 2003) to get near the cache site and Tower 31 is to take "Gaudette Road" by Woody's repair/Excavation shop. It goes right to the Hi-Lines Maintenance road (Dirt) but in pretty darn good shape. Just be caareful of washouts esp. in the spring.
To get to the Cache Summer or winter, the best way is through two different spots: From Rt.114 park at Log Road on right which is 2 miles North of the North end of Norton Pond. Follow the log roads/trails with your GPS and Topo Map 4.12 miles to the East & SE till you come to the Hi-Lines. Great Mountain biking,Snowmobiling and Hiking! From Tower 31 at the Hi-Point of the Hi Lines go approx. 150 yards to the Northwest (About a 310 magnetic bearing) up the ridge till you find the cache. The change in elevation on this route is from 1363 feet at the main road to 2300 ft. at the cache.
The 2nd way is to stay on Rt. 114 till it turns East along the Border. From where the Old Drive-In Theatre was on the North side, continue East about 1.25 miles to a gravel road which runs South. go about a mile to the end of the road. From here get onto the "Hi-Lines" and go about 3 miles to the South to the High Point (Near Tower 31). The towers have numbers on them! You'll have a good chance of seeing Moose, deer, bear, coyotes, Hare, etc. It's one of the neatest spots in Vt.! When you find this one you earned it! Good Luck!
