A small cemetery is located just off the road that leads to Great Swamp. This is SK16, the David Sherman Lot.
It dates back to the mid-1800's when using small family plots like this was still a common practice, especially in the more rural areas. In the more populated areas, larger tracts were set aside for this purpose (such as the North Burial Ground in Providence).
As you look at this small lot, you may be able to imagine how it used to look. The fence still completely intact with wooden boards running between the granite posts. The Victorian-style gate and monuments in pristine condition.
Those who are buried here have long been forgotten, but this place is still a quaint, peaceful spot. Please respect these souls and this site and keep your hunting to daylight hours.
