This is a Riparian Cache that follows a stream.
Many small streams cut deeply into the 'clay plain' of northwestern Vermont. These often create tiny complex nooks that are difficult to develop and present a challenge to running roads and railroads through. This is a pretty good example of a small section of stream that does just that.
This is a bit of a scramble and I don't want to underestimate it's difficulty- give me some feedback if I've done so! This will be a bit more of a project than an IHP cache [which I like so much]. The easiest way through this multicache is to flow like water most of the time which means splashing and in the winter ice. At no point is anything over knee deep, but high boots, clothing for bushwacking and something to help you negotiate a frozen stream in winter are strongly recommended.... however in wet weather use your judgement, this is NOT for spring floods or our next Irene.
This type of jaunt however is what my son would call a 'fun walk' thus its name.
You will go through some calciferous/hemlock/white cedar forest which is fairly rare nowadays. The stream itself has many small fish, but appears to recently have picked up Didymosphenia geminata known as didymo or "Rock Snot" however.
If you enjoy this, check out our other local cache- Holes in Rocks
