XXX is the height of Schnebly Hill Road divided by 2 minus 44; YYY is the year of the car we attempted this route minus 1,133. Not too bad, even shoemanshoe can do this math!
One of our greatest adventures was in Arizona in 1992 when we were traveling from the Grand Canyon to Sedona. Rather than take the "long" route, Bumpa saw a "shortcut" from the interstate to Sedona along a road called Schnebly Hill Road. Keep in mind that we were traveling in a 1985 Buick rental car. Our first tip that this might not be a great route was the gate barring our way, but that didn't stop Bumpa. He just got out and opened the gate and along we went as the road gradually shifted to a one lane dirt road. We began passing Pink Tour Jeeps that were looking at us like we had two heads. We finally reached the summit of Schnebly Hill which was an 1,800 ft. plunge straight down a cliff. But Bumpa was not to be stopped and down we went in the rented Buick, around hairpin turns and slipped and slid all the way down. It wasn't the first time Bumpa tried to kill us and it probably won't be the last. Thanks for the great memories and awesome adventures Bumpa!
This cache is at the top of one of the larger hills in the Waukesha area and you will most likely pass a sign that says "Dangerous Hill" near the summit. Don't try to drive a 1985 Buick down the hill though unless you have the driving skills of Bumpa...
