Un peu d'Histoire : Vers 1690 une petite chapelle fût édifiée sur l'emplacement du village actuel, elle fût incendiée par les anglais en 1693 et reconstruite en 1730 alors que le village devenait paroisse autonome. Le 13 janvier 1762, un flottille anglaise dirigée par l'amiral RODNEY débarqua 1200 hommes sur le territoire, en bombardant les fortins des pointes Borgnesse et Dunkerque, qui commandaient l'entrée de la baie du MARIN,, commandée par DE FOLLEVILLE, lieutenant du Roi. En 1808, les anglais tentèrent à nouveau de s'emparer de l'ile, et c'est pendant ces combats que périt le commandant DE SAINTE ANNE dont le nom resta à la paroisse, en souvenir de ce glorieux défenseur de la Martinique. Le 12 juin 1837, SAINTE ANNE fût érigé en commune... Le chemin du calvaire : En passant le long de l'église actuelle de st Anne, monter le chemin du calvaire. Une chapelle domine le village et la vue s'étend sur la rade et les nombreux voiliers qui y font relâche, au loin le rocher du diamant.. .......................................... On June 12th, 1837, SAINT ANNE is set up as municipality... The road of the Calvary : Climbing along the current church of SAINTE Anne, go up the road to the Calvary. Up hill, a chapel dominates the village and gives a view over the natural harbour , the numerous sailboats which are ankered there, and far away LE ROCHER DU DIAMANT ( rock of diamond ).
