The Insomniac's Field Puzzle Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

JoeUUUUU: Well it had been 5 months without any logs, so I dropped by to see if something was amiss.

The city de-branched the lower parts of the pine trees in the area, which makes that section of the park more usable, but it also kills this cache. Oddly enough, they left the fire tacks that I put on the trunks of a couple of trees which looked a little goofy without any cover. At least I got some fire tacks back for a new cache.

Geocache Description:

Cache is NOT at posted coordinates! Nor is it at the end of the trail of fire tacks. This is probably obvious by context, but this is a night cache. Visiting during the day will only disappoint you. If you find this on the ground please re-hide it the best you can and let me know. There's been a furry muggle visiting this cache as well, did not see his name on the log though. Poor taste, really.

Note: 3/13/12 The final stage of fire tacks appears to have been eaten by a squirrel who doesn't understand what food is. I recovered enough of the debris to almost re-assemble the final stage.
You will have to add +.001 to your west coordinates to find the cache. I hate doing this, but it'll have to do until I get more tacks.
Directions: 1. Turn on your flashlight 2. Go to the posted coordinates 3. Follow the trail of fire tacks and carefully take note of what you see. The fire tacks will give you all the info you need to find the coordinates to the final location. The tacks are all concentrated at the same spot on any given tree. You will be able to see the next beacon from the previous one. (You may need to circle around it a little bit though.) There will be 5 stops for you to check including the initial one at the posted coordinates. It might help to bring a pen and paper and take notes to make it easier to remember what each tree is telling you. The cache IS located in the park, so keep in mind it can't be TOO far away from you. Have fun everybody, and happy caching! I'm not sure how much help a geochecker will do you, but I figured I'd add one just in case you get info from the field and don't find it that night.
