Villages were once here, up to 1960 a couple of thousands of people lived in these villages. They run farms earlier and were no other feasibilities to earn their living because of lack of highways to reach the towns.
In the course of the collectivization of agriculture they got into trouble. Their plough-lands were sporadic ones in the forests and weren’t suitable for farming on a large scale. They didn’t found cooperatives but because of high taxes they failed. They gave up farming and moved away up to 1980. Their houses, the little temples and scools turned to ruins and those are mostly disappeared.
One of these villages was Fehértó. You can find only the chapel and the cemetery of Fehértó on the top of a little sand-hill here: N46° 26,648’ E17° 32,498’
There is an other cache-series leading (tour-retour 24 kms) you across this lanscape it show you the places of five abandoned villages (Galabárd, Kak, Háromház, Kopár, Cserfekvés): GC2X1HJ.
Maybe you can’t walk in this forest in september and october months from p.m. 15 to a.m. 9 because of night huntings.
