Geocache Description:

Whisky Galore

What you will find here is an object that started its life in Dumbarton in Scotland, but has been at this location for nearly 50 years and is an impressive sight. Leave yourself time to look around and afterwards you can explore the nearby park and find the other caches in the area.

Not sure quite how the Whisky connection was made. This cache has more to do with a less alcoholic beverage.

NOTE: This is a virtual find - you MUST visit the location before you can claim a find. NO ARMCHAIR GEOCACHING.

My thanks to Master Mariner who was very quick to provide the required information to keep this cache going.

NEWS ARCHIVE

As you may have seen in the news the historic tea clipper, The Cutty Sark was severely damaged by fire in the early hours of 21st May 2007. The ship was the subject of this virtual cache and had been visited and logged by geocachers from around the world. My first reaction was of total dismay and I archived the cache (too hastily). However I have been contacted by the Cutty Sark Trust who were in the process of restoring the ship. They are determined that the ship WILL be restored, albeit on a much longer timescale and with a much higher cost. They asked if I could keep the cache going to help with the public awareness of the restoration plans in future months and years. We are fortunate to have a great team of cache reviewers in the UK who immediately unarchived the cache.

At the location please complete the following task in order to log a find:

Add a photo of you/your GPS/personal item in front of the Cutty Sark ship to your log

This is a virtual cache so please complete task when logging. There is no physical container.
