This bronze sculpture which is slightly larger than life, created by Stephen Walker AM in 2004 is located at the rest area, between Denison Canal & Arthur Highway, Dunalley.
Dunalley is a Small fishing village, located on the narrow isthmus which separates the Forestier and Tasman Peninsulas from the rest of Tasmania. The Denison canal, with a swing bridge for road traffic, has been cut between Dunalley Bay and Blackman Bay to allow boats easy access between the two bays.
This figure of a bronze eagle landing gracefully on a sandstone rock marks the completion of upgrade works on the Arthur Highway.
The Tasmanian Eagle is the largest Wedgetail eagle in the world & weighs up to 5 Kg with a wing span of up to 2.2 metres.
Dunalley is a great place to stop when travelling to and from the Tasman Peninsula and Port Arthur so take a break, stretch your legs and grab a cache at the same time.
Cache contains logbook bring your own pen.
This is a high muggle area so difficulty rating higher to reflect that.
Please rehide back under rock.
