Geocache Description:

Be a part of the exclusive Volunteer In the Park (VIP) club while enjoying the scenic beauty of one of America's premier National Parks for a weekend of camping, cookouts, camaraderie and a day of moderate manual labor. This is one of two CITO Event in Yosemite this year.

If for any reason the date on this Event doesn't work out for you (or you'd like to do both), please see the other Listing at the following link: Yosemite VIP Summer CITO
This year, we will be taking to the high country, and performing volunteer work along the Tioga Pass Road.   As described by Ranger Heather, the work will be, " a
"progressive" project, working in a few different sites over the course of
the day at the campgrounds along the Tioga Road." The National Park Service will provide a Gate Pass for all Volunteers, which will be posted closer to the date of the work.
Where:  We currently have campsites set aside at White Wolf Campground, along Hwy 120, as well as  Group Site B at Hogdon Meadows Campground near the North Entrance to the Park.  We will have only three sites available at White Wolf (i.e. 6 cars and 18 people total), so if you're coming through the North Entrance (aka Big Oak Flat), I would suggest you stop at Hogdon Meadows and stay at Group site B, which is larger and can accommodate more cars and people.

When: You can arrive as early as June 29th (Friday), and can stay as late as July 1st (Sunday) afternoon for the White Wolf campsites

The Hogdon Meadows Group site is reserved through the 4th of July, for folks that want to stay longer.

What: The work has been described as "Bulletin Board Rehab", which leaves a lot open for interpretation.  It's safe to assume that it will be relatively dirty work, with some moderate lifting.  Wear appropriate clothing and footwear.  Knowing that Ranger Ken is familiar with this crowd, I wouldn't be surprised if he has a few alternatives thrown in to keep us busy.

Bear Facts: Yosemite has a bear problem.  No doubt about it.  All campsites in the Yosemite National Park are equipped with large metal boxes for food storage.  You will be warned at the entrance station that ALL food must go in these boxes.  Bears can make pretty easy work of just about every model of car.  Don't take any chances; use the boxes.
Equipment: The Park Service will provide all the tools necessary for the project.  You'll be responsible for getting yourself to the worksite, all your camping necessities, and food.  Showers are available at Curry Village up the road a bit and run a buck or two (includes a towel and bar of soap).  There is small convenience store at Crane Flat Gas Station that has a small supply of necessities if you forget something. .  The campsite is equipped with flush toilets and piped in water.
