Geocache Description:

Crowninshield Island, also known as Brown's Island, is a small island off the shore of Marblehead, Massachusetts. Since 1955, it has been maintained by The Trustees of Reservations.

It features a rocky shore, sandy beach, meadow, and salt marsh. This island is a favorite for local boaters and sunbathers during the summer months even though it is only a couple hundred yards from the mainland of Marblehead. Boaters frequently anchor just off the rocky shore and wade or swim up to the island to enjoy the beach or go for a walk. Unlike adjacent Gerry Island, there are no goats or goat herders to contend with here. This island is open to all who manage to find a way out here.

Short of utilizing a boat, paddle board, kayak or inflatable raft to get here the biggest challenge is timing it just right so you can walk on the water. Make no mistake, this IS an island. Access to the cache itself is 24/7, but getting to the island in an ambulatory manner definitely is not.

Once you make landfall the cache is located a short distance from the beach area. Off season you won't find too many muggles here, but between Memorial Day and Labor Day expect to use some stealth tactics. Fortunately you won't have to endure any poison ivy or ticks to make the grab. On a sunny day you will enjoy a wonderful view southward of Marblehead Light and the "Neck". Baker's Island and Children's (Cat) Island are eastward.

Congrats to Froedo and the Clan for the FTF

And to Roadies for a very close STF.
