Glenn Rice: This cache -- until now the 10th oldest in the state of Missouri -- is now dead [xx(], due to its permit not being renewed. Thanks to all the folks that have visited it over the last five years. This has always been my favorite cache of the ones I've placed, because it was so deceptive: On the map, it looked like it should be easily accessible from a nearby road, but in reality it was almost 4 miles from the nearest access point. It was also a cyclist-friendly cache -- not too many of those around.
I understand the need for permits for caches in state parks, and I appreciate Mr Gast's tolerance/support of geocaching in his jurisdiction, but I do think that the permit procedure should accommodate caches like this one that are very seldom visited by cachers. This cache is also very close to a heavily travelled multi-use trail, which has far greater impact on the surrounding area than any cache would.
