Geocache Description:

Johann Sebastian Bach
(1685-1750)

Johann Sebastian Bach was a German composer and organist of the Baroque period. He held many posts, primarily as a church organist or court musician. Later in his life, he played for Frederick the Great of Prussia. The king, a musician himself, provided Bach with a theme to elaborate on. From this theme came the Musical Offering, often regarded as one of his greatest works. One section of this, Canon a 2, per tonos is also known as "the endlessy rising canon," and sounds as if the key continues to rise. Also contained in this work is a crab canon, which is the same both backward and forward, along with other musical riddles.

In honor of this great composer, I have composed a little musical riddle of my own based upon one of his great works, The Art of the Fugue. However, my skills are not nearly as great as his were and I could not come up with anything past the theme. So, for you I present my own musical offering. Upon finding this cache, you will obtain a pair of numbers which can be used to find the bonus cache, GC3CB69 - An Eternal Golden Braid. Good luck and happy listening!

You don't need to listen to the music to figure it out, but you can if you'd like here.

You can check your musical comprehension on Geochecker.
