Who is May, and why is her birthday important?
This cache is tucked in a fun, fairly out-of-the-way spot in the
hills above Summerland. You can drive within about half a mile of
the cache site, and then there's a short, somewhat steep hike. The
cache site itself has a pretty 360-degree view of the hills.
When searching for this cache, keep an eye out for private
roads. You do not need to enter any private property to find this
cache. However, don't be afraid of signs that say the road is not
officially maintained by the city.
The hike from the nearest parking is suitable for children,
pets, and off-road bicycles. You can actually make the entire
journey by bike, assuming you don't mind steep hills.
The cache itself is a decon container, placed to blend in with
its surroundings.
On a recent visit, I discovered that there are actually two ways
to get to the cache site. One is the "official" way, and the other
takes you along a drainage gully. The latter is probably the first
path you'll find if you're watching your GPS...but it requires some
climbing, so if you have pets, a bicycle, or small children, I'd
recommend searching a little longer for a more official-looking
path.
