Ultima Forsan: Year's End Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

VinceHayter: Tempus fugit. Early on it was very easy to keep on top of hides and schedule outings. However, life brings change and as new interests, experiences, or responsibilities appear as part of the narrative, maintaining the 'old' becomes much more difficult. What I've learned though, is that struggling for a known status quo can prevent potential growth into something much more important, and just as often more interesting as well. Either way, the lesson to be learned is that time is servant to no man.

Geocache Description:

Ultima Forsan is a latin phrase that means, literally, 'perhaps the last.' It's a motto I tend to keep in mind during good and bad times as well as when I'm working on specific goals. This phrase also has special meaning to me with regards to geocaching...

This cache is not at the posted coordinates. Please read the listing carefully.

Following the birth of my daughter in 2009 I began looking for specific goals to help focus (and throttle) my efforts in geocaching. One of the goals I decided to attempt in 2011 was completing my geocaching calendar. However, with over 130 days to color in (including February 29th), I knew it wasn't going to be easy and fully expected it to take a better part of two years to complete. At several points during the year I began to 'run out' of nearby caches that made working toward the goal feasible. Fortunately, nearly every time I believed I was about to fall behind, someone in my area would place more caches which helped me keep going for a little while longer. As of February 29th, 2012 my calendar is now full and the goal complete. It was an ambitious goal and one I'm now happy to have behind me but it wouldn't have been possible without those who placed the caches to be found. To that end, this puzzle cache is dedicated to those who placed those caches I found during that long but find filled year as a small way of saying thank you.

The names below are those of the cachers whose caches I found specifically to fill empty days on my calendar. That said, it is not intended to be an exhaustive list of hiders whose caches I found during 2011. (If I found one of your caches during that year but do not see your name, that is likely the reason NOT because you don't deserve thanks for your hide. If you feel your name should be on this list and is missing please let me know and I'll be more than happy to add it should it meet the above criteria. Additionally, if your name is here and you do not wish it to be, let me know and I will remove it.)

Thank you to the hiders:

The final cache is located in Dunkirk Park. Please note the attributes. Parking is ample and a short walk from the final cache. While there is some bushwhacking involved, I tried to place this just far enough away from prying eyes to keep it from being muggled. In other words, the trek should be short but may be intense depending on the angle of approach. The park can get quite busy at times, so some stealth may be necessary depending on the timing of one's visit. During the greener times of the year, the cache is also *very* well protected by a veritable sea of man-eating poison ivy (consider yourself warned).

The puzzle is subtle and -as the name would suggest- may take time to figure out (days if necessary). The primary puzzle involves an offset for the last three numbers in each of the coordinates. Alternatively, to those with plenty of time, there are other ways to find what you seek...and perhaps more. As always, please feel free to contact me for any assistance or questions; good luck!
