Vale of Lune Church
St Gregory's was built as a chapel and schoolroom on the instruction of Miss Frances Upton of nearby Ingmire Hall at the request of the local farmers who had been attracted by the preaching of a Mr Foyers who had been sent to minister to the navvies working on the construction of the Ingleton to Lowgill railway (now disused). The building was converted to a church in 1900 by Mrs Florence Cottrell-Dormer (Miss Upton's sister), and was consecrated in 1918. Worship ceased here in 1984, and the church was declared redundant in 1992. It is now cared for by the Churches Conservation Trust who have given kind permission for the placing of the cache. There are some interesting stained glass windows in the church, which is always open.
Parking is available outside the church or the "Weathercock" house. Please do not block the access lane.
The Churches Conservation Trust requests that geocachers sign the visitors book near to the cache as well as the cache log book.
