Geocache Description:

Estes Lake is a long, widened section of river, backed up behind a small hydroelectric dam on the Mousam River. The northern three quarters of Estes Lake is actually part of the Middle Branch of the Mousam River, as the main river comes into the lake near the south end. There is boat carry-in access at the dam. The prominent fish species are smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, and chain pickerel.

The cache is located along the Charles E. Swett interpretive trail which winds through a 5-acre section of the Massabesic Experimental Forest in Alfred, ME. The Massabesic Experimental Forest Education Project was established in 1998 to provide the public self-guided interpretive trails.
