This is one in a series of caches entitled "Take a Hike". There are no puzzles, no multi's, no challenging hides in this series; instead, what they share in common is a good hike in the woods, enjoyable in any season.
I just couldn't resist seeking out a hill by the name of "Shaven Crown", and lo and behold, there is actually a trail system here sponsored by the Boxford Trail Association. You must park at the coords below; do not drive or walk up the driveway, but rather follow the direction indicated by the arrows (and you'll be able to see the green BTA/BOLT sign at the edge of the woods as well). Yes, you do start off walking across someone's yard, but that is the trail easement, and the homeowner was very friendly and informative on my most recent hike here. The trail brings you over the shoulder of Shaven Crown and down to two of my favorite hiking features: a swamp's edge and an old stone wall winding through the trees. Enjoy your hike!
