Welcome To Paradise! Traditional Geocache

O Colmeal é uma freguesia portuguesa do concelho de Góis (distrito de Coimbra).

Tem cerca de 36,61 km quadrados de área e uma ocupação populacional de 158 habitantes.

O local onde a cache se encontra é conhecido como a 'Cortada'.

O nome advém de uma alteração no seguimento normal do rio.

Antigamente, o normal leito do rio, contornava todo o monte, no entanto por decisão da população, para uso das terras fertéis das margens do rio Ceira, optou-se por fazer um corte, dividindo o monte, para que o rio passa-se nesse corte, mas também para aproveitar os terrenos envolventes para a agricultura.

O rio Ceira, nasce na Serra de Açor é um afluente do Rio Mondego, onde desagua uns metros a montante de Coimbra.

Como poderão notar, a água é extramamente limpida e cristalina e é dever dos geocachers fazer por mantê-la assim.

Apesar de a Cortada não ser uma praia fluvial oficial, é um local extremamente bonito e relaxante para a prática balnear (com os devidos cuidados, pois não é vigiada).

No Colmeal existe uma praia fluvial devidamente identificada (Praia Fluvial da Ponte), que dista cerca de 4 km, deste local.

Colmeal is a small portuguese village in Góis, Coimbra.

It has a total area of 36,61 km2 and a populacional occupance of 158 inhabitants.

The cache it's placed in a spot called 'Cortada'

It's name comes from a change made in the river course.

A years ago, the normal river course, had followed all the surrounding cliffs, yet by inhabitants decision, in order to use the nearby lands of Rio Ceira to farm activities, they've made a cut in the mountain, so the river pass by it.

Ceira's river spring it's located in Serra do Açor, the river runs all the way down, to Coimbra, where it joins to Mondego River.

As you notice, the water it's extremely clean, and it's your duty to maintain it that way.

Despite 'Cortada' it's not an official river beach, it's an really beautifull and relaxing place to take a swim.
(Take caution, there are no supervision) 

You can find a official river beach, (Praia Fluvial da Ponte) about 4 km away from this place, in Colmeal.

• A cache está colocada, junto ao rio, numa das paredes das encostas em redor da lagoa.
• Faça especial atenção na descida até ao local, seguindo sempre o trilho.
• Tenha cuidado com as crianças, vigie-as e ajude-as na descida.
• Poderá não existir no local recepção de rede móvel.
• Para chegar à cache, terá que 'escalar' cerca de 2 metros (muito simples).

> Caso opte por aproveitar o local também:

• Na água, tenha atenção às rochas, são extremamente escorregadias.
• Atenção a atravessar a cascata, não é muito boa ideia e nada recomendado.
• Existem duas grutas na margem direita do rio junto à cascata, verifique se é seguro explorar.
• O centro da lagoa é bastante profundo, cuidado com as crianças.
• Atenção aos mergulhos das rochas para água!!

• The cache it's placed, near the river, in one of the cliffs surrounding the water.
• Caution when follow the trail, watch your step.
• Take special attention on monitoring the kids.
• There are no cellphone signal in the area
• The reach the cache, you'll have to climb a small cliff, 2 meters high. (Very simpleeeee!)

> After geocaching, take a swim:

• Beware of the terrain, may be very slippery.
• Do not cross the waterfall, it's extremely dangerous.
• There are two small caves, nearby the waterfall, take caution and make sure it's safe.
• The river nearby the waterfall it's really deep, watch out!
• Do not dive from rocks, it's really dangerous!!!
